Harper died in my arms on Thursday. He was a found outside the old Suntrust bank 14 years ago. They were repaving the parking lot and it had rained the day before. His cries were heard from across Mall Blvd and I had to go see what was going on. He was in the wheel well of the heavy machinery. I and a friendly passerby managed to get him and I took him home. He was so tiny. He was a beautiful boy. He loved to sit in the sun with his legs crossed and take it all in. He is gone too soon. My heart breaks without him. He loved his laser light and he would climb into my arms to be held. Everytime I would say “Harper Hungry?” he would know it was time for food. I will truly miss this beautiful soul. I can feel the emptiness now without him here.
