High Lord Bacon “Lil Bacon” Adams, First of His Name, Protector of Naptime Snuggles, Knight of the Noms, The Velociraptor of Smithfield Drive, shed this mortal coil and frolicked onto the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, January 24th, 2022. He passed doing one of the things that he loved best, playing and wondering where he shouldn’t have been because his beautifully Beagle nose often got him and his brother into trouble.
Lil Bacon was born on March 14, 2017. He spent every day of his life with his litter-mate and brother Egger Beggers. They were first brought home in early May 2017 by their adoptive human parents, Amy and Angus, and two of their human sisters. When they first came to their new home, they were introduced to their bonus dog-mom, Morticia. It was not a great meeting for Lil Bacon and Tissue took things a little too far, as a result, he had a small scar on the side of his nose and a very healthy fear of her grumbles. Despite that rough start, they grew to love each other and would often play and run until Tissue’s passing from old age in early 2019.
Lil Bacon was quite the character. In spite of his compact size, there was a great deal of personality packed into that fluffy little body. Bacon loved to love. He would do everything possible to make friends at the dog park, and sometimes more than friends, much to the embarrassment of his human mom. He loved his human sisters like no other. While he loved Mom and Dad, if one of his sisters were in the room, no one else existed for him.
Lil Bacon had a son, Oliver James, with his sometimes girlfriend, Muffin. She was fun-loving and free-spirited, but also pretty sassy and a little mean sometimes. Bacon didn’t care, he loved her anyway. Bacon had no more luck than his brother Eggers in the spending time with the pups department because again, Muffin was fierce and a super good mama, just a terrible girlfriend. Muffin left the pack after a short illness at the end of 2019.
Since then the pack consisted of Eggers, Bacons, Bessie, and Oliver James. They would spend hours running and playing, then napping, eating, and starting over again. Towards what would be the last year of his life, Bacon spent a good deal of time wrestling with and teasing his son, Oliver, and niece Bessie.
Lil Bacon, or as his mama called him occasionally, “princess,” was also a wee bit snooty. He didn’t like wetness on his paws, he was not a fan of mud, rain, or baths. He could not be bothered with fetch or tugging toys. Tennis balls were beneath his station, however, he simply adored snuggle naps. The tighter the snuggle, the happier he was and his Daddy was ALWAYS happy to oblige! On days off, they could be found in bed, mid-afternoon, peacefully sleeping and snoring in tandem. Lil Bacon’s hobbies also included building nests of everyone’s stolen dirty laundry, under mama and daddy’s bed. Every now and then, mama and daddy would have to clean it out to be able to find their pajamas, and Lil Bacon would quite dramatically pout and sigh to voice his displeasure at the loss of all of his hard work. When LB was VERY upset with you, he would often sit at the end of the bed, right in your line of sight, and purposely not look at you.
Lil Bacon was also a creature of habit. He had a snuggle schedule and you were required to comply. When mama would make dinner, he would follow right along and put a gentle paw on her leg, asking for pets and noms. Just as he treasured afternoon naps with Dad, at exactly 8 pm each night, Bacon had to have boop-a-snoots from his mama. These were required for a minimum of five minutes and had to include not only nuzzles from noses but also had to have an equal measure of kisses and the kissy noise had to be made!. Despite his Dad and Mama’s best efforts, he never learned to take a treat gently and took his noms with a fierce zest for food that is inherent in all good beagle boys.
Bacon was a wonderful dog boy, he was deeply loved and is survived by his human parents, all of his big sisters, his son Oliver James, his niece, Bessie, and a host of friends, and family. Lil Bacon was joined in death by his brother, Sir Eggnatious “Egger Beggers” Benedict Adams, First of His Name, Fierce Knight of the Smithfield Relm and Lord Protector of the Dino Blanket. Our hearts are fuller for knowing them, emptier for losing them, and better for having raised them.
Thank you, boys, for choosing us as your family. May our souls meet along the way again.
